WHY YOU MUST CHASTEN YOURSELF (FOR YOUR GOOD)
Chasten yourself? what does it mean? Why do we need to do it? How can it benefit me as a believer.
In the bible, the word tells us that who the Most High loves he chastens.
Heb 12:6 For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
The word chasten actually means discipline. So, who the Most High loves, he disciplines. “Scourgeth” means flogs. So anyone who comes to the Most High and he loves them, will be disciplined and flogged.
Imagine that!
So we don’t have to be brilliant to figure out that if we discipline ourselves, we will actually avoid some of the discipline from the Most High.
And indeed, we read over and over how the Most High flogged people in the scriptures.
2Sa 24:11 For when David was up in the morning, the word of YAHUAH came unto the prophet Gad, David’s seer, saying,
2Sa 24:12 Go and say unto David, Thus saith YAHUAH, I offer thee three things; choose thee one of them, that I may do it unto thee.
2Sa 24:13 So Gad came to David, and told him, and said unto him, Shall seven years of famine come unto thee in thy land? or wilt thou flee three months before thine enemies, while they pursue thee? or that there be three days’ pestilence in thy land? now advise, and see what answer I shall return to him that sent me.
We really don’t want anything like that, do we?
So what is the remedy?
Well, self-discipline (chasten yourself) and you could avoid some of that harsh discipline that can come from our Father.
So in this short audio teaching, we look at why you must chasten yourself, along with its benefits for you as a believer seeking the kingdom of the Most High. Listen to the short audio below, from our Rising With Truth series.
