WHAT IS A BIBLICAL DAY?
What is a biblical day? Does the ancient biblical calendar use the days of the sun or moon to calculate the days and ultimately, the sabbaths?
For those of us seeking to find the true calendar of the bible, this is of utmost importance.
THE MONTHS OF THE SUN AND MOON
You see, the months of the sun and the moon are different.
Some moon (lunar) months are 29 days while some are 30.
On the other hand, some of the months of the sun (solar months) are 30 and others 31 days.
Also, the years are different in that the moon’s year is 354 days, whilst that of the sun is 364 days. So to calculate the days and weeks properly is integral to finding out the true sabbath.
DAYS OF THE SUN AND MOON ARE THE SAME
The days of the sun and the moon are the same in terms of duration. Today, this duration for us is 24 hours.
Sun rules the days by its rising, setting and rising again the next day. It separates the light from the darkness, determining how many hours there will be darkness and how many hours will be light.
The moon on the other hand, varies its rising and setting, even though its days are as of the sun.
Book Of Enoch 73.3 And every month it’s rising and setting change, and its days are as the days of the Sun, and when its light is uniformly full, it is a seventh part the light of the Sun.
During these days, the moonshine changes, varying from a dark moon to the full moon.
Book Of Enoch 74.4 And in certain months, it changes its setting, and in certain months, it follows its own individual course.
Opposite to this order of the moon, is the sun being consistent in its shining.
WEEKS BELONG TO THE SUN?
Have we forgotten about what is a biblical day? Absolutely not. Just know that we are simply looking into months and weeks to come to our conclusion.
Continuing then, the moon is very “clumsy” when it comes to the weeks.
What do I mean?
With a 354 day year, the moon is not divisible by seven. Please note, that a week, by its very definition is a multiple of seven.
Whether it is a week of seven years or a week of seven days, a week is defined by the number 7.
Gen 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
Gen 29:27 Fulfil her week, and we will give thee this also for the service which thou shalt serve with me yet seven other years.
week (in Genesis 29:27)
H7620
שְׁבֻעָה שָׁבֻעַ שָׁבוּעַ
shâbûa‛ shâbûa‛ shebû‛âh
shaw-boo’-ah, shaw-boo’-ah, sheb-oo-aw’
Properly passive participle of H7650 as a denominative of H7651; literally sevened, that is, a week (specifically of years): – seven, week.
Notice it is a denominative of H7651, so let’s look at H7651.
H7651
שִׁבְעָה שֶׁבַע
sheba‛ shib‛âh
sheh’-bah, shib-aw’
From H7650; a primitive cardinal number; seven (as the sacred full one); also (adverbially) seven times; by implication a week; by extension an indefinite number: – (+ by) seven ([-fold], -s, [-teen, -teenth], -th, times). Compare H7658.
Total KJV occurrences: 395
The week is literally seven based!
So those who keep a lunar sabbath say the first day of the month is not in the weekly cycle. It is the first day of the month, and the weekly cycle starts counting after that first day. That makes the first week eight days.
That is not a weekly cycle.
That is not a seven day week.
Which brings me to first fruits.
HOW DOES THE FEAST OF FIRST FRUITS WORK?
The feast of first fruits requires seven (7) successive sabbaths, then the next day will be the fiftieth day (Pentecost).
Lev 23:15 And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete:
Lev 23:16 Even unto the morrow after the seventh sabbath shall ye number fifty days; and ye shall offer a new meat offering unto YAHUAH.
That is a clear indication that the seven straight sabbaths are unbroken.
Seven times seven equals forty nine (7 x 7 = 49). Forty nine plus one makes fifty (49 + 1 = 50).
That is Pentecost.
ADDING TO THE WORD?
But this would be impossible with a lunar sabbath, as there are approximately four weeks in a month. We are told to count 7 sabbaths, so we are sure to cross into the beginning of another month.
And so crossing over to another month would add an extra day. Remember, the beginning of their month starts an eight day week.
So, the word has been added to, as the bible, in no place that I have found does it ever suggest to me that this is what we should do (have an eight day first week).
Now If this was so, wouldn’t it be plainly in Torah so that we do not transgress? Neither does the book of Enoch nor Jubilees have this instruction.
FIRST FRUITS TO PENTECOST (SEVENS)
Instead, the Most High bases his count of days and years on sevens. Again let’s look into first fruits.
JUBILEE (SEVENS)
And the same principle of sevens is in the Jubilee.
Lev 25:8 And thou shalt number seven sabbaths of years unto thee, seven times seven years; and the space of the seven sabbaths of years shall be unto thee forty and nine years.
Lev 25:9 Then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the jubile to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land.
Lev 25:10 And ye shall hallow the fiftieth year, and proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto his possession, and ye shall return every man unto his family.
Now speaking of sevens, on the other hand, a sun’s year is 364 days. That is precisely divisible by seven. Three hundred and sixty four divided by seven is fifty two (52).
And we are told that the biblical year consists of 4 seasons comprised of 13 weeks each season, which makes it 4×13= 52 weeks.
Now 52 seven day weeks is 52 x 7 = 364.
Therefore the weeks are ruled by the sun, through its 364 days!
The moon cannot rule the weeks as it is 354 days and not perfectly divisible by 7.
In order to get the days of the moon to fit a week, adjustments have to be made, making some weeks to be eight days. It is then no longer a week, as it is now not seven days.
YAHUAH is an Aluhym of order. Not chaos or confusion.
1Co 14:33 For Aluah is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all assemblies of the saints.
WHAT IS A BIBLICAL DAY – CONCLUSION
The big difference between the ancient biblical calendar and the Gregorian calendar that we use today, is that there is a differentiation of duty between the luminaries. There is also a differentiation of years, months, weeks, seasons and days. The moon does not carry all of the burden, neither does the sun.
Because the Gregorian calendar is not based off the luminaries, its year begins its months. Additionally, its days are not 364 days.
Finally, in summarizing what is a biblical day, note that the lunar calendar is a 354 day calendar that is based off the moon directing the weeks and therefore sabbaths. Unfortunately, weeks cannot be harmoniously executed in a 354 days year.
Interestingly, the Most High gave us a 364 day year of 52 weeks of seven days (as weeks should be). Why then are we trying to re-invent the wheel by adding an eight day (as the first day of the month)? The Most High made it simple for us, why are we complicating it?
But we must get this: the week is ruled by the sun, not the moon.
