Yahawashi Or Yahusha? Which Is Right?
Yahawashi or Yahusha? If you have been following us, you will know that we are not those who say you must have the exact pronunciation of a name to be saved. Indeed, we emphasize walking in the Ruach in all righteousness unto true holiness above all else.
However, there are some who place great emphasis on the names. This is one such case in our YouTube chat in our last Sabbath teaching entitled “The Sect Of The Nazarenes.” Then, a viewer was determined that Yahawashi is the correct rendition through Paleao Hebrew, rejecting the name Yahusha.
Name: Authority & Character
Now, it has been my experience that names bring characteristics with it that are not found in other names. Let’s look at the menaing of name, as used in the scriptures.
Isa 52:6 Therefore my people shall know my name: therefore they shall know in that day that I am he that doth speak: behold, it is I.

H8034
שֵׁם
shêm
shame
A primitive word (perhaps rather from H7760 through the idea of definite and conspicuous position; compare H8064); an appellation, as a mark or memorial of individuality; by implication honor, authority, character: – + base, [in-] fame [-ous], name (-d), renown, report.

A Mark Or Memorial Of Individuality
It is a mark or memorial of individuality, an appelation that sets one apart from others. It is why I now use the name Chazaq EliYahu, as my old given government name reflects a history of sin and sinfulness that does not bring honor to the name of the Most High. The memorial of my birth name is rotten, dishonorable and shameful.
Hence, I changed my old birth name, as now being a new creation in Yahusha HaMashiach, I now walk in newness of life, striving to give splendor to the name of YAHUAH through Yahusha HaMashiach. It now brings with it a responsibility to not let the name of YAHUAH be blasphemed through me. I am now charged to walk in perfection before the Most High (Mat 5:48).
Hence, like myself, coming out of Christianity, I had to seek a name that is synonymous with the Messiah of the Bible, matching his characteristics.
So using this understanding to understand the name of the messiah? Jesus Christ an idol that is synonymous with rebellion against the word of YAHUAH (law done away, it doesn’t matter who we are, Christians will be raptured away, and so on). That is his mark of individuality: his name, his character.
The Character Of My Messiah
So my Messiah could never be called Jesus Christ. Even though I do not battle with exact pronunciations of names, I do reject names that carry a personality of rebellion, disobedience and unrighteousness. Jesus Christ does not reflect the character of my messiah.
Yahusha vs Yahushua
What I do not battle is for example, are names like Yahusha vs Yahushua. Why? Those who follow both names hold the Messiah in more or less the same esteem. He has the same mark or memorial of individuality, the same character. The names Yahusha and Yahushua generally reflect obedience, righteousness and a desire to walk in the way of truth.
Yahawashi vs Yahusha
But what about Yahawashi? The morning after our sabbath teaching, I was led to do a relatively short teaching on the topic: “Yahawashi or Yahusha.”
Please listen carefully as it is more edifying than it sounds. This will bring out more truths about whether or not either Yahawashi or Yahusha bring out the true character, the true mark of individuality of the Messiah of the Bible!
