Divination vs True Prophecy
Today we look at divination versus true prophecy. How do we know the difference between the two?
There is no shortage of prophets and prophetesses today, especially self acclaimed prophetesses.
Indeed, the women are more prominent, and we have the never ending claim from persons declaring which one of them is true and which one is false. In this post, we plan to put it all to rest.
DIVINATION VS TRUE PROPHECY – VIDEO (13 min, 40 sec)
What Is Divination?
Ezk 12:24 For there shall be no more any vain vision nor flattering divination within the house of Yasharal.
Let’s look at the meaning of the word from the bible.
divination
H4738
מִקְסָם
miqsâm
mik-sawm’
From H7080; an augury: – divination.
Total KJV occurrences: 2
Well, that meaning doesn’t seem to say much, but let’s look at the meaning of augury:
AUGURY (Cambridge Dictionary)
a sign of what might happen in the future:
eg. These sales figures are a good augury for another profitable year.
the skill of knowing what will happen in the future:
eg. His remarkable recovery defied all medical augury.
Let us complement it with the dictionary meaning of the word divination:
DIVINATION (Merriam Webster Dictionary)
– the art or practice that seeks to foresee or foretell future events or discover hidden knowledge usually by the interpretation of omens or by the aid of supernatural powers.
It is actually using some means at our disposal to predict future events or hidden knowledge, without walking in the will of the Most High.
What Is Prophecy?
Now let’s do the same thing and look at the meaning of prophecy from the bible.
prophecy
H4853
מַשָּׂא
maśśâ’
mas-saw’
From H5375; a burden; specifically tribute, or (abstractly) porterage; figuratively an utterance, chiefly a doom, especially singing; mental, desire: – burden, carry away, prophecy, X they set, song, tribute.
Total KJV occurrences: 65
Again, we get no solid understanding from this meaning.
“Prophecy” comes from the word that means burden, which implies it is not pleasant. A significant meaning is porterage, which is the job of carrying things for other people. Yet another significant meaning is “chiefly a doom.” Putting it all together?
A prophecy is a word from the Most High that is a burden which one carries from the Most High to those to whom it is sent, but which is not usually not a pleasant word.
Prophecy Comes To Us Straight From The Most High
So the true prophecy of the Most High comes to us. It is not something that we seek out! Examples?
2Sa 7:4 And it came to pass that night, that the word of YAHUAH came unto Nathan, saying,
2Sa 24:11 For when David was up in the morning, the word of YAHUAH came unto the prophet Gad, David’s seer, saying,
1Ki 6:11 And the word of YAHUAH came to Solomon, saying,
HOW DO WE RECEIVE THE WORD OF PROPHECY?
Prophets receive the word of prophecy through dreams and visions. There is no conversation between them and the Most High!
Num 12:5 And YAHUAH came down in the pillar of the cloud, and stood in the door of the tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam: and they both came forth.
Num 12:6 And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I YAHUAH will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream.
Num 12:7 My servant Moses is not so, who is faithful in all mine house.
Num 12:8 With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of YAHUAH shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses?
RECEIVING THE WORD THROUGH DIVINATION
The big difference with receiving the word through divination begins with money.
Social media today, through its provision for monetization is causing many to be divining, thinking they are prophesying. People put up their cashapp, PayPal, Zelle, GoFundMe asking for donations, not knowing that these are the rewards of divination.
Num 22:7 And the elders of Moab and the elders of Midian departed with the rewards of divination in their hand; and they came unto Balaam, and spake unto him the words of Balak.
They then strive to put up as much content as possible to keep people coming to their channels to increase numbers. Some of these people put up several videos daily, always constantly hearing from “the LORD.”
The satanist owners of these social media websites know this, and provide opportunities for us to monitize and therefore partake in divination. My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge (Hosea 4:6)!!!
So let us get the best evidence of divination from the scriptures. But first, we must establish that the Most High will allow false prophets to prove us as to whether we will obey his commandments or not.
The Most High Will Allow False Prophets So As to Prove Us
Yes, we must also understand that the Most High will permit these false prophets so as to test us.
Remember, he told us that he makes peace and create evil (Isa 45:17) and that he made the wicked for the day of evil (Prov 16:4).
Deu 13:1 If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder,
Deu 13:2 And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them;
Deu 13:3 Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for YAHUAH your Aluah proveth you, to know whether ye love YAHUAH your Aluah with all your heart and with all your soul.
Deu 13:4 Ye shall walk after YAHUAH your Aluah, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.
The Most High Allows Divination
Likewise, the Most High permits divination, and will even communicate with diviners! Now first, we spoke about divination involving payment:
Num 22:7 And the elders of Moab and the elders of Midian departed with the rewards of divination in their hand; and they came unto Balaam, and spake unto him the words of Balak.
Prophecy is simply speaking what the Most High revealed to us as he wills, but divination is someone seeking out the future for reward.
Diviners Will Tell You That They have Conversations With The Most High
Now diviners will boast about their conversations with the Most High. How many times have you heard so-called prophets or prophetesses tell that “God said to me,” or “God said?”
Take a look at this clip below where this self-acclaimed prophetess claims that “God” said thank “God” that you awoke so I can talk to you:
Now what does the bible say about these conversations? Are they prophecies or divination?
Divination!
Here is the proof.
Num 22:8 And he said unto them, Lodge here this night, and I will bring you word again, as YAHUAH shall speak unto me: and the princes of Moab abode with Balaam.
Num 22:9 And Aluah came unto Balaam, and said, What men are these with thee?
Num 22:10 And Balaam said unto Aluah, Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, hath sent unto me, saying,
Num 22:11 Behold, there is a people come out of Egypt, which covereth the face of the earth: come now, curse me them; peradventure I shall be able to overcome them, and drive them out.
Num 22:12 And Aluah said unto Balaam, Thou shalt not go with them; thou shalt not curse the people: for they are blessed.
So this is why divination is so hard to figure out, as the Most High will give messages to diviners. That is why it is erroneous to judge a prophet simply because what they speak come through!
How Does The Most High Speak With His Prophets?
So do you see the similarity between the account of Balaam in Numbers 22 and the video above? In both cases, the Most High spoke with man face to face. But how did he speak with his prophets?
Num 12:6 And he said, Hear now my words: If there be a prophet among you, I YAHUAH will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream.
Then, that TRUE prophet will not have to seek about the future. The word of Aluah would simply come to the prophet in a dream or vision at the time the Most High wills! That is why we have this in the bible…
Zec_4:8 Moreover the word of YAHUAH came unto me, saying,
Hag_2:20 And again the word of YAHUAH came unto Haggai in the four and twentieth day of the month, saying,
Jon_1:1 Now the word of YAHUAH came unto Jonah the son of Amittai, saying,
How Many People Does He Speak With Face To Face?
Deu 34:10 And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom YAHUAH knew face to face,
So we are to believe that the Most high now speaks to these modern so called prophets and prophetesses “face to face?”
I don’t think so..
But The Diviner Shall Die
So the Most High will even communicate with diviners, but guess what? The diviner shall die!
Deu 18:10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,
Deu 18:11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer.
Deu 18:12 For all that do these things are an abomination unto YAHUAH: and because of these abominations YAHUAH thy Aluah doth drive them out from before thee.Jos_13:22 Balaam also the son of Beor, the soothsayer, did the children of Israel slay with the sword among them that were slain by them.
HOW TO IDENTIFY FALSE PROPHETS – FULL TEACHING
Conclusion: Divination vs True Prophecy
Divination vs prophecy?
The big difference between divination and true prophecy is that divination is man seeking out the future using supernatural means. Some of these methods include crystal balls, consulting familiar spirits, witchcraft, sorcery and enchantments. They will also be given dreams or visions. But the Most High knows their intent.
(1Ch 10:13) So Saul died for his transgression which he committed against YAHUAH, even against the word of YAHUAH, which he kept not, and also for asking counsel of one that had a familiar spirit, to enquire of it;
(1Ch 10:14) And enquired not of YAHUAH: therefore he slew him, and turned the kingdom unto David the son of Jesse.
Note that diviners will be given much truth, but will err eventually.
Act 16:16 And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:
Act 16:17 The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation.
Act 16:18 And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Yahusha HaMashiach to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.
True prophecy on the other hand is us seeking YAHUAH through the means he provides. These include obedience, righteousness, holiness, fasting, prayer and supplication. The Most High will then speak through a dream or vision. Prophecy may even come unto us without us even asking or seeking.
Now you know the difference between divination and true prophecy.
False prophets will either conjure up lies through the desires of their hearts, or use divination to deceive themselves and others. They may even unknowingly be led by the spirit of divination, thinking they are true prophets when a spirit is (mis)leading them.
This is the complex, dangerous world of prophecy. Yet there is a multitude of people willing to call themselves prophets today. They have no idea what a dangerous thing this is. The bible pronounces death for false prophets who mislead his people.
Eze 14:9 And if the prophet be deceived when he hath spoken a thing, I YAHUAH have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand upon him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel.
