WHEN DID SABBATH CHANGE TO LUNAR CALENDAR?

When did sabbath change to lunar calendar that many are keeping today? Was there a biblical change? Or was there a historic change by man?

Today we are going to examine this question from a scriptural standpoint.

SABBATH FROM CREATION WEEK

So what better place to start than at the beginning?

There the word tells us that the world was created in seven days.

Gen 1:1  In the beginning Aluhym created the heaven and the earth.
Gen 1:2  And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

WHAT OCCURRED ON THE FIRST DAY?

Gen 1:3  And Aluhym said, Let there be light: and there was light.
Gen 1:4  And Aluhym saw the light, that it was good: and Aluhym divided the light from the darkness.
Gen 1:5  And Aluhym called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.

Light was created.

THEN THE LUMINARIES WERE CREATED ON THE FOURTH DAY

Gen 1:14  And Aluhym said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:
Gen 1:15  And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.
Gen 1:16  And Aluhym made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.
Gen 1:17  And Aluhym set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,
Gen 1:18  And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and Aluhym saw that it was good.
Gen 1:19  And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

The sun. moon and the stars were created on the fourth day.

THEN HE WAS PLEASED WITH HIS CREATION ON THE SIXTH DAY

Gen 1:31  And Aluhym saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.

The sixth day was the final day of creation.

THEN HE KEPT THE SEVENTH DAY AS SABBATH

Gen 2:1  Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.
Gen 2:2  And on the seventh day Aluhym ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
Gen 2:3  And Aluhym blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which Aluhym created and made.

That was the beginning of the seven day cycle (from the first week of creation). That is where a week came from: seven days. Of course there are also weeks of years, but bottom line? Weeks are in sevens.

When did sabbath change to lunar calendar?

Well, there is nowhere (that I have seen) in scripture where it tells us that this seven-day cycle was broken or restarted. Nowhere does it tell us that a week could be eight, or nine or ten days.

Instead, in the commandment in the law, he tells us that we must keep the Sabbath (the same seven days) because he blessed it (from the beginning).

Exo 20:8  Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Exo 20:9  Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
Exo 20:10  But the seventh day is the sabbath of YAHUAH thy Aluah: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
Exo 20:11  For in six days YAHUAH made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore YAHUAH blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

THE CREATION SABBATH WAS GIVEN AS AN ORDINANCE FOREVER

It gets even worse in the book of Jubilees. It tells us plainly that it was forever.

Jubilees 2

16 And He finished all his work on the sixth day -all that is in the heavens and on the earth, and in the seas and in the abysses, and in the light and in the darkness, and in everything.

17 And He gave us a great sign, the Shabbat day, that we should work six days, but keep Shabbat on the seventh day from all work.

18 And all the malakim of the presence, and all the malakim of sanctification, these two great classes -He has bidden us to keep the Shabbat with Him in heaven and on earth.

19 And He said to us: ‘Behold, I will separate unto Myself a people from among all the peoples, and these shall keep the Shabbat day, and I will sanctify them unto Myself as My people, and will bless them; as I have sanctified the
Shabbat day and do sanctify it unto Myself, even so will I bless them, and they shall be My people and I will be their Sovereign Ruler.

20 And I have chosen the seed of Yacob from amongst all that I have seen, and have written him down as My first-born son, and have sanctified him unto Myself forever and ever; and I will teach them the Shabbat day, that they may keep Shabbat thereon from all work.’

21 And thus He created therein a sign in accordance with which they should keep Shabbat with us on the seventh day, to eat and to drink, and to bless Him who has created all things as He has blessed and sanctified unto Himself a peculiar people above all peoples, and that they should keep Shabbat together with us.

22 And He caused His commands to ascend as a sweet savoir acceptable before Him all the days.

So, the command was acceptable before him ALL HIS DAYS! remember, he is the ancient of days.

All his days means eternity!

When did it change?!!!

FOR ALL YASHARAL IS THIS DAY AMONG THEIR DAYS FOREVER

So we just saw that the sabbath is for eternity before the Most High. What about for us, the children of Yasharal? Was it only for a time and then to be changed?

Jubilees 50:9 You shall do no work whatever on the Shabbat day save what you have prepared for yourselves on the sixth day, so as to eat, and drink, and rest, and keep Shabbat from all work on that day, and to bless YAHUAH your Sovereign Ruler, who has given you a day of festival and a kodesh day: and a day of the kodesh kingdom for all Yisrael is this day among their days forever.

It is for all Yasharal forever.

So I believe the cycle has gone unchanged.

Indeed, I have not found scripture that tells me otherwise. Scripturally it tells us that the seven day cycle has remained unchanged from creation.

I don’t know about you, but I have to follow the scriptures, and not follow man when he goes against the word.

THE SUN, MOON, NOR THE STARS DID NOT START A NEW SEVEN DAY CYCLE

So from day 4 (the creation of the luminaries), they continued to shine, not disturbing the order of the sabbath. They did not start a new seven day cycle, neither were we commanded to change the cycle!

IS AMOS 8:5 SAYING THE SABBATH HAS BEEN CHANGED?

Now someone sent this to me as proof scripture to say the sabbath cannot be on the day they call Saturday. It must be in the week (they say).

Amo_8:5  Saying, When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell corn? and the sabbath, that we may set forth wheat, making the ephah small, and the shekel great, and falsifying the balances by deceit?

Their point is that the Babylonian system wants to get into our sabbath. Hence what better way than to hide a work day sabbath from us? This work day would be like a Tuesday or Wednesday. Hence, the sabbath to them, is one of the week days.

Now all of these are theories, and we here at Just a Word cannot instruct you on theories. It must tell us through the word. This is how we have always found truth.

So if I was to answer without scripture?

The answer to that is, when is the most commercial day in the year?

Saturday.

When are all the parties, sporing events, shopping, etc that all profane the Sabbath?

Saturday.

In reality, most people work during the week, then on the sabbaths, they work at home and then go after all their pleasurable pursuits.

Remember, breaking the sabbath is not only working. It is buying, selling and doing our worldly pleasures. All of that is achieved by profaning the seventh day that they call Saturday.

So the point of a week day being more capable of being polluted than the day called Saturday is not a valid one.

WE MUST BE GIVEN A CHOICE BETWEEN GOOD AND EVIL

Another reason it is very difficult to accept that another day could be the sabbath is that the Most High must give us a straight choice between good and evil.

Deu_30:19  I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

So we must have a plain, plain sabbath, and a counterfeit one to tempt us. How many times have we heard Christians agreeing that Saturday is the sabbath but they choose to keep Sunday? They volunteer to profane it, thereby falling to Deuteronomy 30:19.

They have condemned themselves through the choice that they made.

We all must have the opportunity to make that choice. The sabbath therefore could not be a mystery that is only available to a few.

THE CHRISTIAN CHURCH CHANGED IT

What’s more, the Catholic Church were the ones who actually changed the day of the Sabbath. Now anyone who has been listening to us for some time know that the Catholic church is the mother of harlots, the religious arm of Babylon.

So they changed it, giving us a choice between good (sabbath) and evil (Sunday worship). Take a look at the video below that shows this.

SABBATH IS SATURDAY IN OVER 100 LANGUAGES

The record of the Sabbath is held in over 100 ancient languages. In these nations, Saturday is varying versions of Sabbath.Here are some examples below.

Arabic: Sabet
Armenian: Shabat
Bosnian: Subota
Bulgarian: Sabota
Corsican: Sàbatu
Croatian: Subota
Czech: Sobota
Georgian: Sabati
Greek: Savvato
Hebrew: Shabbat
Hungarian: Szombat

Maltese: is-Sibt
Polish: Sobota
Portuguese: Sábado
Romanian: Sambata

That tells me that this Sabbath is nothing new, especially since in the bible, it tells us that our people were scattered over all nations of the earth.

Acts 15:21 For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the synagogues every sabbath day.

Act 2:5  And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.

So from searching out the ancient calendar, I have found that the year, days and weeks of days belong to the sun. The months and feast days are governed by the moon.

The fundamental error I believe we make is to try to make either the sun or the moon (each by themself), altogether control the year, months, weeks, seasons, days and feasts.

THE REAL TRUTH?

When did sabbath change to lunar calendar? The real truth is, there is nowhere in scripture that tells us there was a change. the danger is this warning in the book of Jubilees.

Jubilees 6:32 And command you the children of Yisrael that they observe the years according to this reckoning- three hundred and sixty-four days, and (these) will constitute a complete year, and they will not disturb its time from its days and from its feasts; for everything will fall out in them according to their testimony,
and they will not leave out any day nor disturb any feasts.

33 But if they do neglect and do not observe them according to His commandment, then they will disturb all their seasons and the years will be dislodged from this (order), [and they will disturb the seasons and the years will
be dislodged] and they will neglect their ordinances.

34 And all the children of Yisrael will forget and will not find the path of the years, and will forget the new months, and seasons, and Shabbats and they will go wrong as to all the order of the years.

35 For I know and from henceforth will I declare it unto you, and it is not of my own devising; for the book is written before me, and on the heavenly tablets the division of days is ordained, lest they forget the feasts of the covenant and walk according to the feasts of the Gentiles after their error and after their ignorance.

36 For there will be those who will assuredly make observations of the moon -how it disturbs the seasons and comes in from year to year ten days too soon.

37 For this reason the years will come upon them when they will disturb (the order), and make an abominable (day) the day of testimony, and an unclean day a feast day, and they will confound all the days, the kodesh with the unclean, and the unclean day with the kodesh; for they will go wrong as to the months and Shabbats and feasts and jubilees.

38 For this reason I command and testify to you that you may testify to them; for after your death your children will disturb them, so that they will not make the year three hundred and sixty-four days only, and for this reason they will go wrong as to the new months and seasons and Shabbats and festivals, and they will eat all kinds of blood with all kinds of flesh.

That is the danger. I would really think about a lunar sabbath if there was somewhere declared, that the order of the sabbath was changed from creation. If there was somewhere that told me that it has been changed from what happened in Genesis chapter 1 and 2.

WHEN DID THE SABBATH CHANGE TO LUNAR CALENDAR? CONCLUSION

So what changed? When did the sabbath change to lunar calendar sabbath?

When did the fourth day (for example) change to become the first day of the week as some are doing? When did the first day become a wrong starting point? When did the sabbath change to a lunar calendar?

If these questions can be answered, then the lunar sabbath keepers could have a point. But here is the big one coming up. Here is where the Most High told us explicitly in the bible that he has changed nothing about that order! This is a fitting way to end this post.

Jer 31:35  Thus saith YAHUAH, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; YAHUAH of hosts is his name:
Jer 31:36  If those ordinances depart from before me, saith YAHUAH, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever.

Now look at the meaning of ordinances and it is all over.

It is an appointed time.

He is saying in Jeremiah 31:35 that his appointed times never change! Lunar sabbath is a creation of man.

Hence, we continue to stick by our belief. The inferior luminary called the moon is there for the months and as signs for the feasts. The years, days and the sabbaths are determined by the superior luminary called the sun.
