THE COST OF DISCIPLESHIP MEANING: HAVE YOU COUNTED THE COST?
What is the cost of discipleship meaning? What are the implications regarding the cost of discipleship? Did you count the cost of following Yahusha before you actually decided to?
Almost none of us ever do!
This is primarily because of how we were brought to the truth. Most of us were exposed to Christianity to some extent and were never taught to truly follow the Messiah. Instead, we were taught to worship him. We ignored verses like these below and worshiped him instead:
1Jn 2:5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of Aluah perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
1Jn 2:6 He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
For me personally, having my start in Christianity, no one told me to count the cost nor even deny self (Mat 16:24). On the contrary, I was told in the Pentecostal church that I had to be baptized in the name of “Jesus Christ” and speak in tongues.
INTERNET BELIEVERS
Again, most of us were brought to the way of truth through the internet, as the Father wakes up his people with increased knowledge (Daniel 12:4). No one really stopped to tell us the importance of first counting the cost before we attempted to follow Yahusha.
And that is why most believers fail to attain unto perfection and perfection is a necessary requirement for our endurance to be saved (Mat 10:22).
1Co_2:6 Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought:
Mat 5:48 Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.
The sad thing is that there is no other standard than this perfection, which is why I say most believers fail. If we fail to attain unto perfection, then we have missed the mark.
1Th_5:23 And the very Aluah of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray Aluah your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Master Yahusha HaMashiach.
2Pe_3:14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.
Eph_5:27 That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
THE STRUGGLES AND THE REWARDS
So next we will go into the bible for the cost of discipleship scriptures. But before we do so, let us just get an idea of the cost of discipleship from the books of the Natsarim.
You will see us use this Books of the Natsarim and other books that are not in the 66 book Bible, as we do not believe the Most High gave us only 66 books (2 Esdras 14:38-48).
However, we believe the 66 books in the bible to be the core scriptures that are the foundations from which we must not depart. Hence the books we use give more depths of understanding to the 66 book bible and do not contradict it. Read about the 66 Book Deception.
Download the Books Of The Natsarim for FREE here.
Without first making up our minds that we are willing to suffer the cost, we will struggle and most likely, eventually fail to attain unto the perfection needed to enter the kingdom. Here are the words of our Messiah.
Books Of The Natsarim & The Enlightened Ones Chapter 9:9
“Be stouthearted and resolute, for the struggle will be grim. The foe is wily and well entrenched behind thick walls. Those who have lived with poverty and misery, maintaining a cheerful heart in tribulation, will
arise to glory. Those who are broken serving the cause of Yahuah will receive a mantle of splendor. Those whose proper desires remain unfulfilled on Earth will find fulfillment in Heaven.
Those who have cheerfully borne affliction or deformity will radiate strength. And those who die for the cause of justice and peace will inherit life in glory.”
THE COST OF DISCIPLESHIP SCRIPTURE:
But it is right there before us in the gospels we read. Indeed, Christians spend almost all their time of reading in the New Testament where it is plainly written for us. Yahusha HaMashiach himself warned us about first counting the cost.
Luk 14:25 And there went great multitudes with him: and he turned, and said unto them,
Luk 14:26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
Luk 14:27 And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.
Luk 14:28 For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it?
Luk 14:29 Lest haply, after he hath laid the foundation, and is not able to finish it, all that behold it begin to mock him,
Luk 14:30 Saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.
Luk 14:31 Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?
Luk 14:32 Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace.
Luk 14:33 So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.
Luk 14:26 If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
Do you see how much is required? Did you think of this before you decided to follow the way?
It is very obvious that we should have first taken all of this into consideration.
Am I willing to deny my parents, my wife, my brothers, sisters, children and my own life as well? Am I willing to forsake all that I have? Am I willing to be a homeless man (Mat 8:20)?
Are we willing to sleep in the open air as HaMashiach did?
Luk 21:37 And in the day time he was teaching in the temple; and at night he went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives.
If we look carefully at the meaning of the word “abode” above, we see that it actually means this:
abode
G835
αὐλίζομαι
aulizomai
ow-lid’-zom-ahee
Middle voice from G833; to pass the night (properly in the open air): – abide, lodge.
It means spend the night in the open air! Are you willing to sleep in the open air?
We MUST make up our minds for all these things so that if anything even close to it happens to us, we will be prepared and ready to weather the storm.
If we do not make up our minds to do so from the beginning, when situations come upon us to make a choice, we will most likely always choose the more comfortable alternative. We will most likely not deny self, which is the number one most fundamental foundation for salvation.
Mat 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
Mat 16:25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
COST OF DISCIPLESHIP VERSES FROM THE BOOKS OF THE NATSARIM
Now the description of the cost of discipleship in the books of the Natsarim is even more profound and daunting.
Books of the Natsarim Chapter 15
25 After this, Yahusha went and addressed a crowd near a water fountain where several expressed intentions of becoming disciples.26 Yahusha said, “It is sad that so many desire to become disciples without weighing the cost of discipleship. To follow me as a disciple means renouncing all home comforts, and this is not something to be lightly undertaken.
Many have responsibilities which cannot be cast onto the shoulders of others. So, to those who follow me as disciples, burden is added to burden. Apart from privations and discomforts, disciples are subject to the mockery and scorn of men, and unforeseeable suffering may be in store for them. Those who follow me, taking up my cause but not as disciples, double the burden of their cross.”
This is the cost of discipleship explained. It is not something to be taken lightly.
Which takes us to what the Apostle Sha’ul (Paul) was speaking about throughout the New Testament.
I HAVE NOT COUNTED THE COST, AND NOT PREPARED TO BE CONVERTED, BUT I WANT TO BE A BELIEVER
Oh boy. So now I am in a quandary. I have not counted the cost, nor am I willing to do what it takes to be converted, but I want to be counted as a believer. I want to believe I have a chance to be saved.
Sadly, this is where most of us as believers are, most of us not even conscious that this is where we are operating from. We are not prepared to deny self, to hate father, mother, wife, children, brothers, sisters and our own lives.
We want to partake of this world, even though we were told that if we love the world, the Father’s love will not be in us (1 John 2:15).
Therefore, we have to find a way to assure ourselves and the world, that we can do without denying ourselves and our families, refuse to pick up the stake of HaMashiach and still be a child of YAHUAH.
This is called self-deception.
self deception
– the action or practice of allowing oneself to believe that a false or unvalidated feeling, idea, or situation is true:
NOT COUNTING THE COST, WE BECOME WISE IN OUR OWN EYES
Not counting the cost, or even being unwilling to count it, we become wise in our own eyes.
Pro 12:15 The way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkeneth unto counsel is wise.
This is when we refuse to listen to anyone, except those who tell us what we want to hear. Then we will have itching ears, and even if YAHUAH sends us an exhortation, reproof or rebuke, we will reject it.
2Ti 4:2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
2Ti 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
2Ti 4:4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
Then we will refuse to prove all things (1 Thess 5:21).
So you see that it is a process?
The single act of not counting the cost has triggered a chain of events that take us down a dark hole to destruction!
THE DANGER OF BEING JUSTIFIED BY WHAT WE DO TO AVOID THE COST OF DISCIPLESHIP
So knowing it is a process, let me show you how the process works.
Since we did not count the cost, guess what? When the true burdens (the costs) actually do come upon us, our sinful nature (Romans 7) takes over to protect itself from the pain, struggles, afflictions, trials, tests and other negative stimuli that comes from truly following Yahusha.
Books Of The Natsarim Chapter 7:25
“I have not come to bring peace but to put a sword into the hands of men, setting sons against their fathers and daughters against their mothers. For nothing is worthy if a man will not fight for it. Anyone following me will find enemies among his own kindred, and though he love his parents above all else, I will give him a cause which is greater.
My burden is not light and must be shouldered with fortitude and courage. Those finding it too heavy must go elsewhere.”
The sinful man strives to work its way around the word, so he does not bear the cost of discipleship!
Truly, who wants to deny self when the world is so enticing (Gen 3:6)?
Hence the sin in us finds ways to console our soul that it is righteous, so it can continue to pursue the love of the world (1 John 2:15-17), and what better way to do that than (erroneously) through the works of the law (Gal 2:16)?
Hence, we start to justify ourselves by what we do, not by belief in Yahusha through our converted hearts doing what is right as a result of the righteousness of Yahusha.
Php 3:8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of HaMashiach Yahusha my Master: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win HaMashiach,
Php 3:9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of HaMashiach, the righteousness which is of Aluah by faith:
Hence that is why Sha’ul said things like these:
Rom 9:31 But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.
Rom 9:32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;
Rom 9:33 As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
They did not have the faith that comes with truly following HaMashiach, as the cost of following him was too great for them. Hence, they were not prepared to give up all.
Consequently, they stumbled at Yahusha, the stumblingstone. This is what Peter means here:
1Pe 2:6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
1Pe 2:7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
1Pe 2:8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
COST OF DISCIPLESHIP EXPLAINED? THE DISOBEDIENT MUST STUMBLE
Thus, those who are disobedient, not counting the cost and seeking to walk as Yahusha walked (1 John 2:6), will stumble because they will be disobedient. Obedience is denying self (Mat 16:24), abiding in him (John 15:4-6), and walking as he walked (1 John 2:6).
Justifying themselves by their works, they will try to present themselves righteous before YAHUAH by what they do, not by their transformed heart, not by denying self, abiding in Yahusha and walking as he walked.
So, we effectively are trying to trick the Most High: the one who knows all things, and in so doing, we will become self-deceivers, deceiving our own selves!
That is why when HaMashiach comes many will be shocked to hear “I never knew you, depart from me you workers of iniquity.”
Mat 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Master, Master, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Mat 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
They have deceived themselves into thinking they are righteous through their own righteousness, which is of the law (Philipians 3:9).
These would have convinced themselves that they are righteous and eagerly waiting on the Messiah! That is why it is so difficult to reprove believers! None of us wants to be corrected because we have persuaded ourselves that we are righteous.
Hence, they will take a reproof and turn a verbal “fire” unto you simply for you giving a correction or sometimes, even a simple advice.
You reading this? Please let us not be caught in this. I am saying this for myself and everyone else. It is a horrifying thought to hear this sentence of condemnation: “I never knew you.”
Go back and count the cost!!!
You must be willing and ready to die or else you CANNOT OVERCOME!
Rev 12:11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
If you are not there, get there through the renewing of your mind (Rom 12:2). Need help on that? Click the link below.
THE DANGER OF BECOMING RELIGIOUS LIKE THE BIBLICAL PHARISEES AND SADDUCEES
So without counting the cost and preparing the way to success, when we see the road ahead of us, we will continually fail and may likely eventually become religious. Then, we will discover certain things to do that justify us into feeling we are on the right path.
Under a delusion, the self-justified refuse to face the truth and hence find comfort in lies and unrighteousness.
2Th 2:10 And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
2Th 2:11 And for this cause Aluah shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
2Th 2:12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
Gal 2:17 But if, while we seek to be justified by HaMashiach, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore HaMashiach the minister of sin? Aluah forbid.
Gal 2:18 For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor.
Sadly, when the self-justified speak, they deceive others. Nothing but error and deception comes from the self-justified.
Books Of The Natsarim Chapt 18:63
“You are deceived by hypocrites and the self-righteous and led into error by the self-justified. Those who should watch over you set snares for your feet. And many are those who say, ‘Heed my words but not my
deeds.’ Those who set themselves up over the people or who attain positions of authority freely eat the fruits of success but avoid the responsibility of setting an example of goodness. I tell you, cast these
people out.
We might even become self-righteous and see the bad in others, unable to see the bad in ourselves. Unwilling to face our own deficiencies, we take on the spirit of the Pharisees and Sadducees that our Messiah so often spoke against.
Books Of The Natsarim Chapt 7:36
Yahusha became angry and was hurt in his heart, for their hard heartedness and wrongful interpretation of the Torah were indications of their spiritual apathy. So, he healed the man’s arm. The self-righteous see no wrong in themselves, only in others. And they interpret all things to accord with their own convenience.
In this case, no one can tell us we are not righteous, as we are in a delusion. Why?
When the Most High speaks to us and we continuously do not hear, the prince of error/Beliar/Satan is given power over us to blind us.
2Co 4:3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
2Co 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
Testament Of Issachar
6:1 Understand, my children, that in the last times your sons will abandon sincerity and align themselves with insatiable desire. Forsaking guilelessness, they will ally themselves with villainy. Abandoning the commands of YAHUAH, they ally themselves with Beliar/Satan. (2 Cor 6:14-18)Testament Of Asher
3:2 Flee from the evil tendency, destroying the devil by your good works. For those who are two-faced are not of God, but they are enslaved to their evil spirits, so that they might be pleasing to Beliar/Satan and to persons like themselves. (James 1:8)
But it gets even worse, because the gifts and calling of Aluah is without repentance.
Rom 11:29 For the gifts and calling of Aluah are without repentance.
So he will give us gifts of the Ruach and we are walking powerfully in them, even though we are not perfect before him.
In our ignorance, we take this as consent that he approves of our life, not knowing that he gives us to walk in them to lead us to repentance!
Rom 2:4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
But what if we do not repent? We face his wrath…
Rom 2:5 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of Aluah;
Rom 2:6 Who will render to every man according to his deeds:
Hence, the gifts are not a guarantee of approval!
We have to seek out his righteousness, because the gifts are no indications that we are on our way to the kingdom. Remember Judas (the son of perdition) was among the twelve when this happened:
Luk 10:17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Master, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name.
The devils were subject to one called “the son of perdition” by HaMashiach. This was Judas the betrayer of HaMashiach: the same Judas that was in the group in which devils were subject to them in the name of HaMashiach (Luke 10:17).
Joh_17:12 While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.
And guess what? Look below at what HaMashiach says will happen to those who believe their gifts save them or validate them as being saved:
Mat 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Master, Master, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Mat 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Master, Master,, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?
Mat 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
As long as we are workers of iniquity, we will be rejected by HaMashiach, no matter what gifts we manifested.
BY NOT COUNTING THE COST, WE BECOME SELF-RIGHTEOUS HYPOCRITES
So by not counting the cost and refusing to deny self, we become religious: self-justified, self-righteous, hypocrites, self-centred, self-deceivers.
Books Of Natsarim 11
8 Yahusha spoke to the people in the Temple, saying, “The Parashiym occupy the seats of the prophets and should therefore be obeyed. In general, they live good lives, and you would do well to follow their
example. But with many the goodness is only on the outside, and they are rotten within. Therefore, by exposing these I serve those who are really good.”
9 “I tell you to beware of hypocrites, self-deceivers and liars, and to be constantly on guard against those who, in the name of righteousness, would mislead you. When inspired to become the voice of Elohim, the
prophet spoke of these. For he said, ‘They praise me with their mouth and give homage with their lips, but I am not in their hearts. They worship only because this has been their upbringing.
Such as these do not worship Yahuah because they are good, but for the sake of reward and through fear of the unknown.’ These are people against whom I have set my face, for their goodness is fair outside but rotten at the core.”
10 “There are others who dig in the darkness, hoping their thoughts are unknown. They delve around in the filth within themselves and say, ‘This is pleasant, and none sees what we do,’ but the record of their
thoughts is never lost.Yet these, concealing what lies within, set themselves up as leaders of the people who, finding their troubles multiplied, look vainly for the cause. Yet the people only get the leaders they deserve, for those who will only serve goodness cannot be misled by evil.”
11 “There are deceivers who lead the people along devious paths which can never end in contentment. They produce doves’ eggs to the people, but when hatched in secret, these produce vipers.
They fawn upon the rich and notorious, a smile on their faces and a dagger in their hearts, but to the underprivileged they turn a face of harshness.”
12 “The hypocrites, the self-deceivers and the self-centered are the minions of evil on Earth and are the true enemy opposing the coming of the Rule of Elohim.
Let them maintain the upper hand and you will never know the joys of a reborn world. Turn your backs on these wherever you find them, so your contempt is made manifest. But remember, they will be found in the most unexpected places.”
And you can see us today on the internet. The fruits are easy to see. Almost all of us bear no likeness to our Messiah, but rather bearing all the works of the flesh.
Gal 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Gal 5:20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,
Gal 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of Aluah.
We are easily angered, full of strife, debate, envy, hatred, emulation, jealousy, heresies, and the list goes on. In effect, we are far from the image of the Messiah to which we are called to conform.
But I forgot to mention proud and sensual!
THE DANGER OF PRIDE AND SENSUALITY
Just look at us! We are so easily offended and sensitive, not having denied self and willing to bear the stake (Mat 16:24) with its shame, embarrassments, afflictions, sufferings, trials and tribulations.
These unfortunately do not have the Ruach Aluah! That is not coming directly from me. Rather, is what the word says.
Proof?
Jas 3:13 Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.
Jas 3:14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.
Jas 3:15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.
True knowledge does not come with envy and strife. True knowledge that comes from Aluah is manifested in meekness of wisdom. Meekness or humility is manifest.
So where there is envy and strife? There is earthly wisdom that comes from head knowledge. It does not come inspired by the Most High.
But most importantly for us, it comes with sensuality.
But what does sensual mean?
sensual
G5591
ψυχικός
psuchikos
psoo-khee-kos’
From G5590; sensitive that is, animate (in distinction on the one hand from G4152, which is the higher or renovated nature; and on the other from G5446, which is the lower or bestial nature): – natural, sensual.
As you can see, it means “sensitive,” or “natural.”
So, it means one lacking the Ruach YAHUAH, which results in a fleshly response; that of anger, envy and strife. That is the result of not counting the cost from the beginning and developing into a religious tool of the devil.
More confirmation?
Jud 1:18 How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.
Jud 1:19 These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.
Now what does this word “mockers” mean?
mockers
G1703
ἐμπαίκτης
empaiktēs
emp-aheek-tace’
From G1702; a derider, that is, (by implication) a false teacher: – mocker, scoffer.
There it is.
But who is a derider?
deride
1. To laugh at or insult contemptuously
2. To subject to usually bitter or contemptuous ridicule or criticism
3. To express a lack of respect or approval of
Look carefully then, you see that this is a false teacher who mocks at others.
Now isn’t this what is pervading on the internet? So-called believers mocking, insulting, showing contempt, lack of respect for others while speaking the scriptures?
Indeed, the true believer does not strive! There is no strife in him or her because he or she has been transformed, having count the cost and willing to suffer shame for the name of HaMashiach!
2Ti 2:24 And the servant of YAHUAH must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
2Ti 2:25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if Aluah peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
2Ti 2:26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
That is a harsh lesson to learn!
We must count the cost from the very beginning or this process will catch us!
Consequently, as well, we will not be willing to suffer shame nor persecution. Our pride will lead us into strife and unsurprisingly, we will not be able to take on the image of HaMashiach. Instead, we will become the enemies of YAHUAH and also the greatest enemies of the world!
What?!
ENEMIES OF ALUAH?
Rom 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Rom 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against Aluah: for it is not subject to the law of Aluah, neither indeed can be.
Rom 8:8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please Aluah.
GREATEST ENEMIES OF MAN?
Books Of Natsarim Chapt 18:14
Yahusha taught that the greatest enemies of man and the greatest opposition to the coming Rule of Elohim were not the obvious evildoers and criminals, but the hypocrites, self-deceivers and self-centered.Those are the true enemies of men – the festering evil in their midst. Yet, they cannot see themselves for what they are and have many ways of justifying themselves.
Do you now see how important it is to count the cost of discipleship?
COST OF DISCIPLESHIP BIBLE STUDY ANALYSIS
This bible study video at the beginning of this post has great insights for you to understand why we must count the cost of discipleship. It is called “Have You Counted The Cost: Why Most Of Us Fail In Our Walk.”
The study takes us back to our connection to the days of Adam and Eve and tells us why most of us are wasting our time in religion. It shows the real impact of what it means by many are called, few are chosen.
2Es_8:1 And he answered me, saying, The most High hath made this world for many, but the world to come for few.
Mat 22:14 For many are called, but few are chosen.
Watch the video above so you can get more understanding as to the true meaning of the cost of discipleship.
All praise to our Father YAHUAH Tse’vaoth for giving you wisdom and insight about the necessity for us all to go back and count the cost of following Yahusha. Thank you for writing this article. It is very helpful for my walk.
Al praises to the Most High, Alison. And thank you for leaving a comment
Shalom. Can you help me understand why Yahusha says in Matthew 11:30 his yoke is easy and his burden is light, but in the Books of the Natsarim he says My burden is not light and must be shouldered with fortitude and courage. Those finding it too heavy must go elsewhere. ?
Discipleship is two-fold. First, there is the spiritual rewards of following Messiah which brings with it shalom (peace) and joy. That is the yolk being easy and the burden light. We receive this through Ruach HaQadosh. Gal 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Ruach is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Now that is when you are walking in the fruit of the Ruach. But during the entire time of our walk? The flesh has to be conquered, and that is when it has to be shouldered with fortitude and courage. Challenges are going to come upon us that will require tough decisions. People are going to despise us. We will have to be hated among all men for his name’s sake. That is the part spoken of in the books of the Nasarym that you quoted.
