THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE COMMANDMENTS, LAWS, STATUTES, ORDINANCES, TESTIMONIES AND JUDGMENTS
The video above gives us a breakdown of the differences between commandments, laws, statutes, ordinances, testimonies and judgments according to the bible. This is very important so we know what sin is.
1Jn 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
So if sin is the transgression of the law, it is very important that we are able to truly differentiate what the law actually is. Otherwise, we might be unknowingly transgressing the law (according 1 John 3:4).
COMMON QUESTIONS THAT SHOULD BE ANSWERED
Hence we benefit from watching this video to help us understand sin. Furthermore, the following questions should be fully or partially answered after watching this video:
- Are commandments and laws the same?
- Are commandments laws?
- Are the 10 commandments part of the law?
- Are the 10 commandments old law?
- What is the difference between commandments and laws?
- What is the difference between commandments, laws and statutes?
- What is the difference between statutes and ordinances?
- Is the 10 commandment moral law?
- What 10 commandments are laws?
- What is the meaning of testimonies and judgments?
SEVENTH DAY ADVENTISTS
For example, there is a Christian denomination called the Seventh Day Adventists who (sad to say) do not know the difference between these. They believe they must only obey the 10 commandments and reject everything else.
And as you will see from this video, they are leading millions astray: blind leaders of the blind.
Throughout the bible, especially in the first 5 books, we see mention being made of the commandments, laws, statutes, ordinances and judgments. How many of us have stopped to wonder what each one means?
So realistically, how can we fully understand scripture if we don’t understand what they mean?
Indeed, the word “commandment” is found 177 times in 167 verses, and the plural form “commandments” is found 171 times in 168 verses. This means, that term alone is found 348 times in 355 verses!
So today we look at the meaning of these terms by using the structure of the real life laws of the country of Jamaica as a reference (man’s laws were inspired by the Bible).
And please note that I am not a lawyer, but doing my best to bring clarity to these terms by using practical examples.
BLOTTING OUT THE HANDWRITING OF ORDINANCES THAT WAS AGAINST US?
Now this video was made two years ago, and the most popular question that comes from persons who watched it was about blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that there against us…
Col 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
Subsequently, we did a post expounding on Colossians 2:14. You may take a read here: What Does It Mean Blotting Out The Handwriting Of Ordinances? Colossians 2:14.
THE BURDEN OF YAHUSHA
Furthermore, we did a teaching showing the exact place of the Torah (the law) in us following our messiah Yahusha HaMashiach. Here is the video below. It is called, the burden of Yahusha.
However, first watch the first video at the beginning as we attempt to simplify this very important misunderstanding, clarifying the differences between commandments, laws, statutes, ordinances, testimonies and judgments in the bible.
